SkyAware does not require user accounts and does not collect names, email addresses, advertising identifiers, payment information, or other account-based profile information through the app.

SkyAware uses limited information needed to provide severe-weather awareness features, including:

• Location-derived information used to determine relevant weather risk and notifications
• App preferences and notification settings
• Device notification tokens used to deliver notifications
• Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service

SkyAware does not use third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or advertising identifiers.

Location Data

SkyAware uses your device’s location to determine relevant severe-weather risk and nearby weather events.

To support timely, location-based notifications, SkyAware may send limited, derived location information to SkyAware services, including:

• A coarse geographic index
• County zone information
• Fire zone information
• Related timestamp or freshness information needed to determine whether notification targeting is current

SkyAware does not send your precise latitude or longitude to SkyAware services for notification targeting.

SkyAware uses this location-derived information only to provide weather awareness and notification features.

SkyAware does not sell location information, share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes, or use it to build advertising profiles.

You can disable location access at any time in your device settings. Some location-based features may not work without location access.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, SkyAware may store an Apple Push Notification service token and related installation metadata so weather notifications can be delivered to your device.

This information is used only to support notification delivery, reliability, duplicate-notification prevention, and related service operations.

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Weather Data

SkyAware retrieves or processes weather information from trusted weather sources, including:

• The National Weather Service (NWS)
• The Storm Prediction Center (SPC)
• Apple WeatherKit

Weather products from these sources do not contain your personal information.

Derived Risk Levels and Summaries

SkyAware computes risk-level badges, summaries, and local awareness states based on public weather data and your relevant location context.

Risk calculations and notification targeting may use a combination of on-device processing and server-side processing.

SkyAware’s risk levels and summaries are informational. They are not official forecasts, warnings, emergency instructions, or a replacement for information from official weather authorities.

Website Data

When you visit skyaware.app, basic technical information may be processed by our hosting, security, and infrastructure providers. This may include:

• IP address
• Browser and device information
• Requested pages
• Request timestamps
• Security and diagnostic metadata

This information is used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.

SkyAware does not use the website for advertising tracking.

What We Do Not Do

SkyAware does not:

• Require user accounts
• Sell personal information
• Sell or share location information for advertising or marketing purposes
• Use third-party advertising SDKs
• Use advertising identifiers
• Track users across apps or websites
• Use app data to build advertising profiles

Data Storage

SkyAware stores app data on your device.

SkyAware may also store limited server-side information needed to support notification delivery and location-based weather awareness, such as coarse location-derived information, notification tokens, user notification preferences, and delivery records.

Server-side notification data is retained only as long as needed to provide notification functionality, maintain reliability, prevent duplicate notifications, and troubleshoot service issues. Retention practices may be refined as SkyAware evolves.

Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device. Some server-side notification records may remain for a limited period unless removed through normal retention processes.

Children’s Privacy

SkyAware does not require user accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
